Mr
& Mrs Upton originally wanted underfloor heating throughout
their new home, but because the project was at an advanced stage
the frame had not been constructed to allow for the additional
height required for underfloor heating upstairs, they
had to use radiators.
|
It
was only after the project was completed that we realised that
this presented us with the ideal opportunity to compare
the cost of having underfloor heating in the entire house, with
the cost of having underfloor heating downstairs and radiators
upstairs. The result surprised us!
|
We
compared standard control underfloor heating installed in the
entire house, with standard control underfloor heating downstairs
and standard style white radiators upstairs (not the classic style
you see in the photo below).
We
took the preparation for the underfloor heating into account,
as well as the materials and labour costs, and did the same for
the radiators. When we arrived at the final totals we were so
amazed that we did it all again (a few more times), but the result
was still the same. The cost difference was less than £100.00!
The
fuel saving efficiency of the underfloor heating would save this
small amount of money in a short time, and would go on saving
money for the lifetime of the building.
