Diagram showing underfloor heating pipes installed in a suspended timber floor.

This is the preferred construction technique for a suspended timber floor. Floor joists
should be at 400mm c/c. Sterling board or similar material provides a sub-base onto
which the pipes are attached. Spacers are used between the sub-base and the final
flooring material. The space around the pipes is infilled with a dry sand/cement mix providing the thermal conductivity of the floor.
